MG – Remembering Doug Heesten

We mourn the loss of our dear friend Doug Heesten. Doug lost his battle with cancer this week.  See the following information from his family. Doug served as a friend and consultant to Roger, Todd, and myself, the board and Magnified Giving in general. In my early days at MG, I relied heavily on his knowledge, patience, kindness, expertise and sense of humor!
A memorial service celebrating the life of Douglas A. Heesten will be held Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Twin Towers. The family will receive friends in The Wilson Art Gallery from 3:00-4:00 pm.
Doug was born April 20,1949 in Alliance, OH to Alan & Charlotte Heesten who preceded him in death. He was a 1971 graduate of Mt.Union College and began his professional development career working for the Boy Scouts of America.
He and his wife Stephanie moved to Cincinnati in 1978. He later worked for Ohio Presbyterian Homes and The Summit Country Day School, before becoming Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
Following his retirement in 2011, Doug formed a consulting business, Nantucket Creative Management. He consulted with several non-profits in Cincinnati.
Professionally Doug’s career centered around recruiting and working with volunteers. As a community member he could be found serving on numerous boards throughout the city, selling Christmas trees for Caracole, or working to support his community of College Hill. He was a member of Clifton United Methodist Church.
Doug was known for his contagious laugh and easy going mannerisms.
His first love has been his family, Stephanie (Williams) Heesten wife of almost 40 years, son Ben (Emily) of Waterford, NY and daughter Emily (Barrett) Chopelas and two grandsons, Brady and Cooper.
Memorials may be directed to MelanomaKNOWmore, 10945 Reed Hartman Highway, Cincinnati, OH 45242 or Twin Towers Senior Living 5343 Hamilton Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45224.
The best way to keep Doug’s spirit alive is to find a purpose, volunteer your time and give your love.
